The FCC confirms: Mobile providers broke law by selling location data [TechCrunch]

According to a letter provided to a chair of the Energy and Commerce Congressional Committee by the FCC Chairman Ajit Pai, “one or more wireless carriers” have violated federal law by selling their users location data.

It’s the latest update since the carriers were caught selling location data in mid-2018. The letter further stated that more details were coming including an official declaration and a potential punishment, likely a fine, according to TechCrunch.
