A watchdog group has found that over 1B Android devices are at risk because the devices are no longer being supported by Android or Google. These ‘End Of Life’ devices are on Android 6.0 or earlier and account for more than 40% of Android devices globally, according to Google’s own data.
Any Android devices running on version 7.0 or earlier no longer receive updates, many of which come as security updates. This means Android devices are more and more susceptible to malware and vulnerabilities as hackers continue to find new ways to attack old devices and old versions of Android.
