Over 12K Android Apps have secret backdoors and hidden passwords

Via ZDNet

Researchers have found that out of 150,000 top Android apps, over 16,000 were discovered to have secret backdoors or similar behaviors available to them. These include master passwords and secret commands that, if used, could give access to a device and allow additional (and potentially malicious) code to be executed on the device.

Most of the apps studied and discovered were found on the Google Play Store as well as third-party app markets.
