Unknown hackers have posted over 25,000 emails and passwords from the World Health Organizations, National Institutes of Health, and the Bill Gates Foundation, among others. They seemingly targeted groups currently dedicated to fighting the global coronavirus crisis.
Security researchers were able to validate some of the login details but the WHO maintained that not all the leaked details were valid and any affected accounts had their passwords reset.
Based on the data leaked, some of the passwords involved were ‘password’, ‘changeme’, or the account holder’s first name. This only goes to show that proper password hygiene is often the first step against anyone trying to compromise an account.
