Signal releases photo blur tool for protestors

Via Signal

Signal, the encrypted messaging app, has released new tools to aid protestors around the world who are at risk of being detained by law enforcement.

The tool allows you to blur faces (and any other areas) of a photo in order to preserve anonymity when uploading photos. Because law enforcement uses facial recognition and other methods to identify protestors and activists, photos that show faces put people at risk. This tool will allow people to still share photos of protests while keeping the identity of protestors safe.

Signal also ensures that the processing happens on the device itself so Signal isn’t receiving or keeping any data themselves.
