Personal details of over 56M people has been discovered online [The Register]

The Register has found an unsecured database housing names, addresses, ages, phone numbers, and more of over 56M people, with the database being served from a Chinese IP address.

The data seems to belong to CheckPeople.com, a Florida-based directory site that allows customers to pay to obtain personal details from people. After being alerted to the discovery, CheckPeople responded, saying they were unaware of why the database was coming from a Chinese-hosted IP address and that an investigation is currently underway.
